Rescues

A week ago we received a phone call from the rspca asking if I could trap a injured badger in a barn for them. So myself and my brother Paul took a trap and set it bated with peanuts a week passed and no badger so we believed it may have passed away. But on Saturday afternoon Shelly rang me to tell me that the badger had gone in to the barn again and that they had shut the doors. So could I please go and try to catch it, which I did. I then took it to the vets where we cleaned the very large wound on his rump and neck. He then received a pain killer injection and antibiotic injection. We then took him to our recovery pens where he will now stay till the wounds heal which should take 2/3 weeks he will then be released back from where he came.
Billy bunter the badger was released last night with no problems. Once the cage door was open he was gone like a flash straight down his old run under the leylandii trees. All we saw was a purple bum disappearing into the bushes so fast we could not get a pic. But I did manage take a couple of him in the pen before release , he should be happy back home the people where pleased to get him back. They had prepared some of his favourite food for him, penut butter sandwiches. So I know he will be well looked after, so a good end to this release as well.Bob.![]()
