RESCUE

December 4th 2008.

Hope.

On Thursday I received a call from a lady in Hayle she said her son had found a badger which she believed it had been hit by a car. It was limping and her son had it cornered in a small area of the estate. So we went straight there to see if we could get her. When we arrived in hayle and found the young lad. The badger was up against a garage wall where I quickly managed to get a grasper on her and put her straight in to a basket. We then thanked the young man for being so helpful, as the weather was vile rain and hail, he had stayed till we got there. We then took the badger to vets in Truro, who knocked her out so we could get a good look at her. Upon examination we found no broken bones, but she was infested with so many fleas and tics that she was very run down. She had no muscle left and would have succumbed in a couple more days if we had not got her. She was treated for the fleas and tics and a infected wound in her ear. We then took her to our recovery pens where Anne has been taking great care of her. She is now eating and drinking small amount, so we hope she will recover in the next few weeks.
We will update again soon.

The other day Anne rang to tell me that hope had passed away in the night

Sadly Hope died on the 20 dec after 2-weeks of loving care from Anne. She sadly succumbed to her illness, she was so run down that her poor little body had, had enough. Even though she was eating lots of chicken and other nice tit bits all of anne"s loving care was unfortunatly in vain. But at least she died in comfort and not harried by dogs or other in the wild, which she would have done if we had not rescued her.
