RESCUE

March 8th 2009.

Faith.

We were called out by the RSPCA to help rescue a dog that had gone down a badger sett. Unfortunatly we did not have any luck with finding the dog. But as we where driving home we received a call about a badger that had been hit by a car. As often happens the driver did not stop, fortunatly the car behind did and the gentleman in it was a badger lover. He went to a cottage that was just the other side of the road. The home owner and driver managed to round the badger up and herd it in to the chaps garage. They then rang the RSPCA who told them they had no one available to do anything! so they rung the council and the police. The police gave them my number, but in the mean time a police officer arrived and offered to shoot it. The lady at the house said no, she had contacted me and I was on my way. Then a man from the council arrived and offered to dispose of it as well!!!!! how he would have done this I don't know? anyway I arrived and got the badger in to a cage. We then took the badger to our vets where it was knocked out and examined. It had  a bad cut to the top of its head which had 5 stitches in and a rather bad cut under the jaw, which was down to the bone. She had 8 stitches in this cut and a pain relief injection, along with an a antibiotic injection. Sheis now in our recuperation pens  and doing well so a good out come in the end.

Latest news
Last night we went and collected Faith from our recover unit. She was  now ready to return to her home, we arrived at the place she was found and spoke to the people that had helped to get her in to  the garage.  They where happy to see her back, we then took her to a nearby field where we put the cage on the ground. She became very agitated and new she was home, we opened the door ad she was of like a racing greyhound so fast straght across the field and though a gate. Another good release.
