JULY 13TH

FRANKIE

The RSPCA collected a fox cub from Bissoe which had been cadging food from a cafe. The cub was to young to be independant and was worringly unafraid of humans. It was suspected that the cub had been kept as a pet but then dumped back into the wild, foxes have a strong musky odour wich can be overpowering indoors. A check up at the vets found the cub to be thin but otherwise well and we agreed to keep him until he could be released when mature enough. Initially kept indoors in a badger pen, Frankie thrived, but neeeded more space also acclimisation to the great outdoors. We had an enclosure built using mainly reclaimed materials which when finished provided room to play and exercise with a shed for shelter and sleeping. Frankie had been having walks on a lead for exercise and also to give him a chance to get to know the area but once he was in the enclosure the human contact was reduced to feeds only to help him revert to the wild state. A few weeks later the door was left open for Frankie to find his own way out. Food will continue to be provided until Frankie is completely independant.
