Jumbo Nov12th Mullion
A badger was found on the beach in some difficulty. We arrived after dark to find it had been driven against the cliffs by the rising tide. Luckily, the finder and some friends were able to show us where to look as it would have been inpossible to locate him in the dark. They also acted as look-outs, watching the sea as we had to scramble over rocks to reach him and we did not need to become casualties ourselves by being cut off by the tide. We were even more grateful to have some help carrying the badger back to the car, Polurrian Cove has a very steep climb to reach the road and Jumbo was a large, heavy load. A vet check found only a cut under the chin, we think he had fallen and been dazed. One week later, Jumbo was returned and released.

Tinker Nov 18th Looe
Another badger hiding under a garden bush. This badger had a nasty bite wound on the rump which, under sedation at the vets, was found to be healing over the top while infected below. This would have caused a dreadful abscess. Antibiotics were needed and although it took longer than usual, Tinker responded well and the wounds finally healed. Because of the wintry weather Tinker stayed in care longer than intended. It would be unkind to release whilst snow disguised his home patch, so he spent Christmas with us then was released once the weather inproved.
