JUNE 2011.

TILLY. June 3rd. St.Buryan.
We received a call regarding a badger that was behaving in an odd manner. It
had staggered into a back yard during the morning, seemed quite disoriented
and had taken refuge under a pile of timber. The caller agreed to watch in
case the badger wandered out again before we arrived.Once on scene,we were
assured that the badger had not departed although it was not possible to
see it.The only option was to move the wood pile,a labourious task which
the householder kindly helped with.As more and more wood was shifted,we all
began to wonder if the badger had managed to slip away undetected but at
last a grey, tightly curled, shape came into view.It was quickly caught and
caged, then taken immediately for a veterinary check up.No injuries were
evident but suspecting some head trauma we were advised to monitor her in
care,ensuring she could eat,drink and rest quietly.After three weeks,Tilly
had another vet check to ensure she could see as we had some concern over
her vision.Given the all clear,we arranged to return her home.Tilly was
released near her sett and she galloped happily home.
